Meet The Fluid Team

Clint

For over 20 years I have been involved in supporting and advocating for more inclusive and accessible mental health provision both in the UK and abroad, much of this work has focused on supporting often marginalized groups within our society where mental health provision is often most needed yet least accessible.

My early experience as a person centered therapist has seen me work along clients firstly in bereavement services through to specialist support around trauma. PTSD & CPTSD, and over the last 10 years as a Clinical Sexologist and relationship specialist.

Through out this journey my specialism may have grown and developed but my belief in the importance of individuality and the essence that therapy should be at its core about your journey and experience has only grown.

I greatly believe it is a privilege to work alongside the clients I see and part of their journey and witness the often brave changes they make through out the therapeutic process.

Good therapy is supported by the knowledge and theory we hold as therapists and specialists but is lived through the human connection within the therapeutic space and is much more than a textbook can teach.

This I hope shines through in my very human approach to therapy, and the work I hope we will undertake together.

As so very much about Therapy is building a trusting and safe space for you to feel comfortable, It may help to know a little about your Therapist, after all it is a therapeutic partnership we hope to build.

I currently live in The Derbyshire Dales with my faithful Beagle Indie, together we’re fans of the odd adventure and exploring new places. I started my own therapy journey at a young age after life altering trauma. Working through this tough time and having the support from another, impartial human being really inspired my hope for others as well as myself.

Factoid : I’m a keen potter (a life long dream) and able to gargle the national anthem.

Diversity and Inclusion have always held a strong and valued place in my life and as part of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as an ally of the Trans Community and the Kink community, my own lived experiences have been part of my journey as a therapist and as a human being.

It is my joy of seeing the best and the possibility in people and accepting the great colourful abundance of life that makes my work not simply a job but something of a vocation in life.

As a  psychosexual & relationship therapist there are alongside my general practice specific areas of specialism that I am also able to offer.

These include but are not limited to:

GSRD – Gender, sexuality, & relationship diversity work specifically within the LGBTQ+ community.

Relationship Diversity – Polyamory, open relationships, consensual non monogamy etc.

Kink and Fetish work – Focusing around RACK and navigation of the psychological impact of kink and fetish relationships and how to understand and benefit from choices in this area.

Therapy Dog Extraordinaire & an all-round good Hound

A therapist’s perfect companion can often be seen loitering in the background, offering a glance of comfort (or it could be the look of wanting a biscuit) Empathetic, congruent, unconditional with her love, and occasionally just a little bit naughty.

Phil

Having spent most of my working life in mental health-related posts.  All of my experience and knowledge of working with people has led me to embrace the notion of equality and to stand with my clients who often experienced discrimination and feel disempowered often by those who were supposed to be helping.

Although the context of my work has changed, my experiences and observations increasingly pointed to the vital need to form authentic relationships with people, to really listen and genuinely care.

This realization was given theoretical substance and validation in my training as a Person-Centered Counsellor in 2000.

My practice as a Therapist is centered on offering myself in a genuine, empathic, and accepting way and the kind of attitude which empowers you and enables you to safely explore where you are now and where you want to be.

My commitment to your well-being and willingness to be real will hopefully be your experience from the start.

I live in a semi-rural part of fife in the market town of Cupar. I have a beautiful wee boy called Bobby and when he comes to stay, we get up to all kinds of fun from making dens in the garden to pony trekking. He has the knack for bringing out my inner boy and sometimes I forget how old I am.

I had a cancer diagnosis a few years back and thankfully my treatment worked and is now in remission. Tough times led me to reach out for counseling myself and was truly blessed by the person who supported me. She seemed to ‘get me’ and I tangibly felt her acceptance of me as a unique person.

The personal connection we had profoundly helped me to process my circumstances and recognize my strengths amid weaknesses.

It is my hope and intention to offer myself in such a way and together work towards positive changes in your life.

As an experiential Person-Centred Therapist, I believe in the flow and growth of the therapeutic relationship. As the relationship deepens there may be opportunities to co-create strategies and consider some different and creative ways to move forward.

I have a thirst for learning and continually furthering my knowledge and practice.

I have trained in several therapeutic ideas and approaches which have been beneficial within the context of our relationship and Person-Centred principles. These include but are not limited to:

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Transactional analysis
  • Psychodynamic theory
  • Narrative therapy.
